A new study by Louisiana State University neurologists may have found a breakthrough treatment for ischemic stroke. The research team combined aspirin with an omega-3 fatty acid, creating a molecule that protects surrounding brain areas from damage.
In an ischemic stroke (a “brain attack”), blood flow to a certain portion of the brain is blocked, killing brain cells. “Neuroprotectors” are a stroke therapy that can be used alongside other medications to prevent additional damage in the stroke-affected area.
New stroke treatments like this one may be much more effective than traditional approaches – but they also pose a financial problem. Most standard health insurance will not cover groundbreaking stroke treatments; if you think you could be at risk for a stroke, a critical illness insurance policy can provide the future funds you may need.
Critical illness insurance offers a lump sum benefit upon first diagnosis of a stroke; you can use the money for whatever you need most. Quote, compare and apply for supplemental insurance on CancerPlans.com and find the policy that’s best for your situation.
